What is IOP?

IOP programming provides structure and support for those working to maintain their early recovery while rebuilding their lives in a healthy manner. As their recovery progresses into later phases their focus shifts to establishing and maintaining recovery while working, engaging with family and friends, and managing their own responsibilities.

To support the daunting transition into independence we have specifically developed a team of Masters to doctorate level clinicians to facilitate a program that supports the development and practical application of life and coping skills for day-to-day stressors and activating events (AKA triggers).

Morning and afternoon IOP sessions are available to all participants at Boardwalk Recovery Center. These sessions are scheduled so that clients who are actively enrolled in school, employed and scheduled to work during the day, or have alternative commitments that may be a hindrance to attending an intensive outpatient program can find a program that works with their availability.

Our San Diego Intensive Outpatient Program at Boardwalk Recovery is designed to support an individual who is seeking to sustain long-term recovery and develop a healthy personal lifestyle. Some of our clients come to our program after attending a higher level of care such as inpatient hospitalization, medical detoxification, a residential treatment center, or a partial hospitalization program. While others come to Boardwalk Recovery directly from home or another IOP.

The core values of our San Diego Intensive Outpatient Program include:

  • Individualized care
  • Evidence-based treatment interventions
  • Supportive and compassionate community
  • Educated and knowledgeable clinical staff
  • Family involvement

Boardwalk Recovery offers a 3 phase IOP program

Boardwalk Recovery’s mission for San Diego Intensive Outpatient Program is to help clients maintain long-term sobriety while growing as an individual and meeting their own personal goals. Sobriety requires long-term ongoing, intensive addiction treatment and many strong support networks. We created a three-phase treatment program that builds on each person’s momentum and motivation to help them meet their goals.

PHASE 1:

  • Clinical counseling and therapy 5 days a week, 6 hours a day
  • Regular and random drug/alcohol testing
  • 30-45 days in length based on each individual’s level of progress

PHASE 2:

  • Clinical counseling and therapy 3-5 days a week, 3 hours a day around YOUR schedule as you begin working or attending school
  • 12 step meetings 5 days per week
  • Regular and random drug/alcohol testing
  • 30-60 days in length based on each individual’s level of progress

PHASE 3:

  • Weekly individual session with your primary therapist
  • Independently managing the responsibilities of sobriety, employment, education, relationships and finances
  • Weekly alumni meetings
  • Weekly recovery events and meetings

In addiction treatment, it is the individual who holds the power of the end result; therefore, we teach our patients everything they need to know about how to live life without using addictive substances as their crutch. It all starts with discovering why they needed that crutch in the first place. Clinicians help our patients discover their inner strength while outside support from the surrounding community nourishes that strength during their transition into a sober lifestyle.

Life can be good again and we’d like to show you how.
