Clinical Addiction Services
Clinical Assessment Individualized Treatment Plan
Each treatment plan is individualized and developed together with each client. Some of the problem areas typically addressed in treatment plans can include:
- Substance Use Disorder(s)
- Mood Disorders
- Legal Problems
- Daily functioning including work, school, and finances
We encourage abstinence from substance use as well as an enhancement of overall well-being in life. Our assessments and treatment plan focus on improving physical and mental health, interpersonal relationships, and developing life skills. It is common to experience several attempts and failures to stop or control the amount and frequency of substance use. We strive to decrease the severity and frequency of “relapses” or “slips” by designing and refining individualized treatment and relapse prevention plans.

Individual Therapy
Individual therapy provides the opportunity to work one-on-one with a clinician to explore their feelings and emotions, better understand themselves, identify aspects of themselves they wish to change, set personal goals, and work towards becoming their desired selves. Our primary therapists hold a masters or doctorate degrees in their respective fields. They provide Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), 12-step facilitation, psychodynamic psychotherapy, logotherapy, and schema therapy. Clinical assessments are administered to help your therapist better understand how you think about your life and the world around you. Our primary therapists offer a safe environment for you to process substance use, process addictions, grief and loss, trauma, emotions, self-worth, coping skills, interpersonal relationships, life transitions, or other pertinent topics.
Family Therapy
Therapy is also offered for the client and their family members. Family members can bring out strong emotions, and sometimes communication within the family can be difficult. Respect and open communication are key to understanding each other and creating nourishing, productive family relationships. Family therapy provides a place and opportunity to learn how to be a strong, supportive family. It can help heal relationships and improve communication. The client and their family members can focus on trying to understand each other and finding solutions that work for everyone. It is an opportunity to discuss issues such as conflicts, building better family relationships, substance abuse, anxiety, depression, or trauma.
Group Therapy
Group therapy can help alleviate the isolation many individuals who are coping with alcohol or drug addiction might feel. Group therapy includes education on substance use disorders, abstinence strategies, relapse prevention planning, problem solving, cognitive processing, enhancement of emotional intelligence, and exploration of individual recovery strategies.
By creating and implementing a customized treatment plan based on the needs of the client, the maximum effectiveness of the treatment can be achieved. Different programs and approaches have varying rates of success, but clients can find extra encouragement and motivation in particular clinical services. Each service can help the client recognize the personal choices they need to make to create a life of recovery. Clients can feel confident during their recovery, knowing that their treatment plan and the clinical services they receive are especially suited to their needs.
The right addiction treatment center forms the basis for valuable support that is vital for an individual’s success in recovery. Ultimately, though, it is the individual who holds the power of the end result; therefore, we teach our patients everything they need to know about how to live life without addictive substances as their crutch. It all starts with discovering why they needed that crutch in the first place. The Boardwalk Recovery Center treatment team helps clients connect with outside support from the surrounding recovery community during their transition into a sober lifestyle. Clients grow accustomed to a recovery community and receives support from them long after they complete our program.

Substance Abuse Is the Symptom
Often times, substance abuse is the symptom of a greater underlying problem. At Boardwalk Recovery Center we have trained specialists on staff that help our patients identify and understand these issues. We provide 12 step facilitation as the evidence based practice for treatment programs. We also encourage 12-step meeting attendance, sponsorship, and service in this community. We encourage our clients to continue to be a part of 12-step fellowships after their treatment program has been completed.
Among the benefits of 12-step peer support groups include:
- Feedback acceptance and adoption
- Effective communication
- Healthy stress reducing practices
- Focusing on triggers and how to overcome
- Decision-making abilities
- Finding good relationships
Our seasoned staff members are sensitive and compassionate to each individual patient’s needs. They understand that, especially early in recovery, patients are likely to experience ups and downs. They know how to convey to their patients that drinking and using are really poor defense mechanisms that individuals use to hide from their real problems, emotions, and life issues. Our treatment plan includes group therapy and individual therapy that are designed to help unmask these problems in order to prevent future relapses. We understand that for many addicts the first step to recovery, admitting that there is a problem and that they need help, is usually the hardest. Once they have made it over that hurdle, they have a fighting chance. At Boardwalk Recovery Center, we take our patients from wishing they had a chance of recovery to achieving their dreams of successful and happy sobriety.
Life can be good again and we’d like to show you how.
